If you know the durations ahead of time, you can use a math expression patch and a stop watch to disable the output after the movie's time has elapsed. Don't use the movie loader's duration/position outputs for this, or else you'll still get audio though (documented in the list-discussion above)
this is a huge issue for me too, and its something apple needs to fix.
for my audio-visual/musical needs, if its async i want it to play once with sound, if its not async i want it to silently loop. and qc does the opposite.
i filed a bug report. do that too, they listen to numbers.
I hit some of these issues ages back when i did the 8808 music disk. Plus the whole movie playing if you pass it through a conditional even if the output is disabled thing. But I thought it was just bugs in my composition (which by that time had grown huge, and debugging it was getting really hard).
I think I got around it by setting the loop time to 0.01s for the tracks that weren't playing (I used 4 movie loaders, one for each track). Now and then one will get stuck though, and you hear a clicking noise in the background. I'll get around to fixing that soon :)
And I'll file a bug report too, seeing as I've been a victim of it :)
