I get no render when I put this comp into fullscreen.

I bet it's something simple but I can not work it out. Your help appreciated as always. Cheers, Joe

I can't get it to render anything ever -- it doesn't load the model (I changed the path to be correct, but k3d 1.2 can't seem to load it anymore? yay more autodesk suckage...) just kidding, it can load the model. Not sure what's going on...

try not using logic op, and see if that helps -- you may be running into weird driver limitations.

Re: I get no render when I put this comp into fullscreen.

I think this is the particle tools 3 bug with Kineme3D implementation that I noted after release... I remember it was said that it was due to a particular line of code. I have the notes somewhere.

When you take the fish example and go to fullscreen, while in render, the objects will disappear (at least on my computer). You can however, go fullscreen, then render using command+R and it's all good. I think this has effected some things in Quartz Crystal as well, but I've taken less note, since I think I have subconsciously shied away from 3D particles in general because I don't want the fullscreen thing to bite me. I had somewhat forgotten about it until a couple weeks ago when considering using something similar...

Thankyou. Nowt to do with logic op. Hmm...yes it does work if I start render after going full screen.

Ahh, in the case it's a bug -- now, if only I could remember which 1-line it was... :)

gtoledo, if you find the notes (or my email regarding it), please send it my way so I can ensure it's not doing the wrong thing in future updates.

Sure thing... ah, the benefits of gmail search. I'm fairly sure that the specific line was noted.

Re: I get no render when I put this comp into fullscreen.

Wow , I can get it to render using the Kineme GL Logic Op, Fish.md2, not so consistently successful when using MusicalNote.3ds.

Admittedly, the full screen aspect seems rather hit and miss.

Sometimes on, sometimes off.

I have been rendering this against the beta version of the 3D plugin.

Both 3D files mentioned above and a wee .au file for audio proofing included in the nifty little zip archive.

Anyone remember Java beans with affection?

Warning the audio is on a loop

:-)

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Post Script

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Having had the blighter working AOK prior to archiving, I re opened the saved file, tried running it again to crow about this to a recent visitor, well, MusicalNote.3ds doesn't seem to like playing at all, Fish.md2 ran AOK at all Viewer window resolutions and sadly the full screen was blank - so I think I was a trifle premature in declaring some beta based salvation or solution - apologies - nice spacemusic though - turn that loop off!

Incidentally - upon returning to the viewer window from a blank empty screen, the Viewer window also renders only blank empty space.

:-( ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Post Post Script

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I started the working version in a Viewer window, left it alone for a couple of minutes, only to find on my return to the desktop that the Viewer window, having been a flurry of fish, was now rendering nothing, except black.

Re: I get no render when I put this comp into fullscreen.

it's actually a bug with particle tools -- not kineme3D. :/

Re: I get no render when I put this comp into fullscreen.

There isn't any problem with logic op except with certain combos that use motion blur when rendering. I shouldn't even say it's a logic op problem... I suspect it is inherent to the way that motion blur works, and that it's not even a motion blur problem. One of those oil and vinegar things. You will see a black silhouette with outline wherever certain kinds of renderers are.

The particle tools 3d particle thing is separate and would only bite you when you are at certain resolutions of rendering maybe.

To replicate the bug, all you need to do (in regular QC environment) is to start your render window small, and then jump to fullscreen. To my memory, in Quartz Crystal, it would do this when I would start using 1280+ sizes.

It sounds like this will be fixed in the next update.

** Quick and Dirty Solution**

On entering full screen, press cmd + .

then press cmd + R

Do likewise when returning from full screen.

Could this be done by means of scripted conditionals, on this command do this set of keystrokes?

Not very appealing way of presenting, but does make the composition work full screen after a fashion.

Also, the full screen blank result works with or without the Lighting Macro being outside of or within the Kineme GL Logic Op patch.
