Not officially supported by the Live API is SysEx , as the video tutorial does so tell, but I wonder if you aren't simply able to create a set of text file instructions and then send them through the MIDI patch , interesting question you're asking here.
Found this tutorial as I searched the web, for surely, I thought, though of far less MIDI praxis than yourself and others, I had heard tell that SysEx is used in other environments apart from Ableton Live, and sauce for the goose can be sauce for the gander, all MIDI being MIDI , Simple SysEx tutorial, I shall be perusing that tutorial at my leisure, perhaps it might point you further in the right direction.
You've got me searching itsthejayj and I had to find something that would work with my MIDI application, the spiffy GarageBand , and I found this, which, once I've finished a few bureaucratic chores, I shall be giving a whirl later this coming weekend SysEx Librarian - Freeware - Maybe that will do the trick, albeit outside of QC, mm in fact it might even dovetail nicely within, I shall see.
I was thinking along those OSC lines as I perused the various breads in the new air conditioned Sainsbury's up the road from me, you might well find that OSC is part of a working solution for you, others no doubt with greater experience of using the same might well be able to help you out way more than this novice [back to self taught music school for me - god bless Apple for their wonderful music lessons, must dive into those sometime soon :-)
