Need help with programing a custom consumer patch

I'm new to the mac world and Quartz Composer world, so I would apreciate your help. I'm trying to build an aplication in quartz composer to support interactive kinetic typography and I need to develop a consumer patch that can draw text, much like the ImageWithString patch, but I really don't now how to begin. Can you help me out?
