QC and HD Video Input via BlackMagic Intensity HDMI card

If anyone is looking to feed HD into Quartz at low latency, I have found the Blackmagicdesign Intensity card to be a great product.

With a price of $249, it gives you a HDMI input that can be fed with resolutions up to 1080 (1920x1080i) with great performance.

I found running it in 720p (1280x720) gives me great looking video with low latency.

I'm using a DVI->HDMI adaptor to feed it from another laptop or Folsom ImageProHD.

I had bought the card a year or two ago and was disappointed in it's performance and stability. I was using it with Max/MSP and could not get it to run for more than 5 minutes at a time without crashing the system.

i had left the card untouched for over a year and after installing the new drivers it updated my firmware and it was like a brand new product.

If anyone also bought one of these and was disappointed, download the new drivers and give it another go, it's much better now.

I have yet to have it crash my rig.

If I had to guess, I'm only getting a frame or two of lag in 720p resolution.

Hope this is helpful.
