use something like the Kineme File Tools to save the control values to a file for later recall. Not done it myself, but I'm moving towards rolling all my controls into structures at the moment, so it's something I plan to investigate in the near future.
from what i've seen, typically a javascript patch which internalises the preset data and outputs a structure of variables to give the selected state.

Good to hear... anyway, it has been making the most sense for me to build a structure and save to file.
that's got to be the way to go. I noticed some of the Apple example store presets as arrays in JS patches, so it must be a good method.
