quartz crystal for recording live qtz usage

strontiumDog's picture

hi ive a qtz which takes most of it's input from midi ins. i've tried recording the qc output using crystal by setting it to record, and playing notes either from the midi keyboard or from the sequencer. i'm getting poor performance with the crystal settings all at a minimum.

i'd also like to be able to record live. is this possible? thank++

good idea, bad idea

Using QuartzCrystal for anything live is a terrible idea -- it's software-renderer only (for quality and consistency), so it will really struggle to keep up. It's also not at all intended to do live/real time stuff, so it'll never synchronize nicely with real-world data.

Good News: Check out Value Historian (beta just released yesterday, updated today with some speed improvements), use that to record a live show/performance, then switch it to playback mode for QuartzCrystal rendering. You'll need to be a beta tester, since the patch is still a bit rough around the edges.
