Speech Recognition problem

franz's picture

Hi, i'm using Speech recognition beta, and it is almost working so far. However, it doesn't seem to be able to pick up multiple-words speakable items. It does pick "speed" for instance, but doesn't pick "Michael Jackson", while the speech recog module actually recognizes it (it emits a beep when it picks correctly something). Strangely, there are also some words that won't work after some time. Is there a newest beta around, and did anyone encountered the same problems ?

no, there isn't a new beta, the one you've got is the only one currently posted for download. ah, well.

Re: Speech Recognition problem

There's no newer version (even my personal build is the one available here, as far as I recall).

However, I tried the phrases "Something Awful" and "Michael Jackson" and got both to work successfully. Can you post a sample composition that isn't working for you?

Re: Speech Recognition problem

this works fine franz you just need to learn how to talk to your computer i guess. sometimes it helps to pretend you are a robot and use your robot voice. i usually use my fake british accent and the computer seems to understand me ok, its funny no one else does it seems but the computer understands me.

i know microphones have a lot to do with recognition. the internal macbook pro mic is horrible you will want to use another. the mac book mic is ok because it is next to the camera and not the fan. got to love apples engineers sometimes. lets put a mic next to a fan and a speaker.

i wouldn't stress on this cause it works fine for me try annunciating your syllables like a robot im telling you it works, or use your TV voice. look at command window pic for proof ..... MJ does work.

No capital letter, just clear statement , see attached file for proof your comp actually works.

Re: Speech Recognition problem

thanks, although i would prefer my computer to learn how I speak, and not the opposite.

Re: Speech Recognition problem

there are some developer tools that help you train your computer via a language model etc... i haven't had much luck with them but mac dictate seems to be very good once you build you language model.
