feedback, motion detect & blur

realtime's picture

goto10's feedback tutorial was the thing that lit my passion for QC. so in a process of messing arround with it, this composition was made. nothing fancy programming wise but i love its visual aesthetics. was my ultimate vj gun for some time now. the motion detection code i found in _1024 particle warfare motion detect example. i realy dont know if its common practice in detecting motion in QC? i didn't find any plugin for that. anyway, this is my first steps so: to be continued..

just for the record, this was what i tried to achieve originaly, found it few days ago: http://www.samkass.com/blog/page4/files/dafa924cd8213188531b4c0359e1b9b5...

here is a simple feedback based light painting example. it is made to emulate the effect of opening up your exposure on a camera. you will want to mess with the feedback level and after image life settings to paint. results will vary with room lighting and what not. this is a simple example.

you may want blend the original image with the feedback image based on motion detection or something. or maybe threshold and blur the feedback image and use it as mask with the original image to get more clear image where the streaks are not. as it is the effect is applied to the image as a whole.

if you get a white screen when you open just back the level off till you see your self then bump it back up and start painting with a lighter or led.

This composition is a type of time blur, that also has some pseudo volumetric capabilities and additional settings that take advantage of the "sparkles" that sobel filters create.

This is a qtz that uses the kineme MultiTouchPatch and core image to create a kind of 2D liquid simulation.

This may have less than ideal FPS on some systems; this is similar to the multi-touch example compositions, and was actually an early one (with some minor changes). I decided that the limited speed of the nagao setup made it "not so good" as an example piece, but it's probably nice as a general example. It's usable on my macbook pro, but not really so much on my white macbook.
