moving head mesh with webcam

toskascream's picture

hi everyone, I've created a 3D model of an head with maya and i've imported it in QC. The idea is to make the head's eyes (but also the entire head) moving and following the movements of a spectator. It has to be like the head is always watching you no matter what movement you do. Which patches do I have to use?

I'm new with quartz composer, I've downloaded the CVTools plugin and I've found patches like motion detector, but i have non idea about how to use them...do you have some tips, tutorials, links or everything useful for my project?

help me pls :) thank you

Giants of the Hoods is a Kinect based interactive installation that has visited media festivals like Cinekid in Amsterdam and Farbfest in Dessau. The source file consists basic animation for two characters. I hope this helps people interested in Kinect.

You can find out more information from our web page. Same files can be found in this post.

I wanted to make a basic version of a particle controller, one that you use your hands/head/etc to move around.

The input, in some cases from a Kinect app such as, comes from any TUIO client.

I did a little mashup of my upload from yesterday.

I have it creating a normal map on the fly, making it's own lighting using greyscale procedural feedback trails/particles, doing a low-rent volumetric light thing, and working with multitouch.

You'll need kineme multitouch patch, and the normalmap_gt plugin from my page (georgetoledo.com).

It's semi 10.5 compatible. One of the particle systems/iterator combo's uses smooths inside... that won't work the same in 10.5, but the rest of it generally will.

This is a composition that:

-Constructs a grid of colored objects, with different controls for color generation.

-Monitors mouse x/y and allows an object to push/pop in Z, and/or spin in x/y or z rotation if the mouse hovers over an object.

-Configures a color crossfade on the object as it returns back to the "home" position of the color grid.

-Controls for force and decay of the hit effect.

-Configurable columns and rows that adjust to the rendering destination.

...and that's the gist of it.

I'm sharing this composition to show a way of using an iterator that will make one or more object parameters change after they are triggered.

I used a modified version of this for this video post:
