external time base on 3d transform.

so i was watching a keynote video of kineme chris doing a presentation of qc. i noticed about half way through he decided to add some external time based madness to a iterated cube example. so i have seen how zuga is doing the same thing in his quartz composer book so i decided to give it try. what ??? every time i try and add a external time base to a 3d transform patch it won't let me. hmmmmmm maybe something needs to be inside it.....so i am wondering what patches will enable external time bases for 3d transformations.

i find setting a interpolator to external time base is something i do with everything but now i am liking messing with the timebase of the 3d transform. so i was playing around iterating a model of some ameba and it comes out looking a lot like the wow labs dragon. so im thinking i might throw in some reactive audio but wanted to know exactly what patches enable 3d transforms external time-base, or is just any animation inside if not a particular patch. seems to work once i am iterating some sprites but doesn't let me enable the patch time until after i have made an animation. ??

here is a comp with external time base on a 3d transform that looks a lot like the wow labs stuff. that was not my intention but i'm going with it cause i think some of that stuff is cool and might as well give credit to the quartz composer book etc..
