OpenCL Combined: Optical Flow, Fluid Simulation & Particle System

I wanted to have a similar flow functionality as Memo's ofxMSAFluid: http://memo.tv/ofxmsafluid.

Looking around a found almost all the functionality on or via kineme.net:

So it made sense to return the result.

Here it is! With a little run through in the attached video.

Note: I created this video using a geforce 480 (with 480 cores). The optical flow and fluid simulation have a resolution of 512x512 and there are 1.280.000 particles. (some visible, some not)

I'd appreciate feedback on optimal settings for your systems. (the attached patch has a resolution of 128 with 128.000 particles)

cheers!

The composition is a fairly simple exploitation of an optical flow OpenCL kernel developed from the kernel code published @ [mrkbrz work and ported to QC.

Part of a growing raft of constructs exploiting the facility, textured & untextured to re-create video using OpenCL, upon and within mesh renders, and by various other means.

This construct dispenses with Meshes entirely, although use could be made of some sort of queued Image to Structure setup or another, similar construct to process the video feed say into a Particle Mesh render, re-creating the video feed presented.

This is the video feed before being filtered through the OpenCL kernel.

& this is the video feed after being filtered through the OpenCL kernel

See elsewhere in the Repository for the Particle Mesh variant.

It, OpticalFlow_OpenCLParticleMesh, is the pepper to the salt of this construct.

Quartz 4.0 exporting live video input composition for quicktime...

Timesquid's picture

Hi, Im trying to get a functional Quartz composition with safe video input and midi input working in modul8... Ive got a composition that should work, but when I use it in any other application, its dark, and reacts to the midi differently.. Any ideas?

Ive attached it... you will need the vade plugin http://002.vade.info/?p=32

and the safe kineme midi and video patches...

Im using Quartz 4.0, snow leapord, and quicktime Pro...

Is it just not possible with these builds?

Also... This plugin - stoped working when I upgraded to 4.0 Quartz... is that avoidable, or does Tom B have to upgrade the plugin for 4.0 functionality? :

thank you!!!

This is an example of a way to clear points easily using CVTools. This is one of Kineme's CVTools examples with an added point clear function.

Hold delete and right click (eg., "one finger click") to clear points.

Please note licensing for clear function, cough cough. This is a MUST. :)

*Also, many thanks to Kris Harris for his useful alternative clear points setup, posted when discussing OpenCV some time ago. He inspired me to find a different way to achieve the same function, so that I could ultimately induce people into buying me coffee in a subversive way, through my use of an idiosyncratic licensing agreement. Thanks, Kris. *
