Audio Reactive Visuals projected on Ceiling

Hey Everyone

Myself and Ian Jones http://www.motionreactor.net/ did some audio reactive visuals for a party which we projected onto the roof.

We are calling ourselves Sentient Worlds and although we have been wanting to do stuff for a long time, this is our very first actually job/event/anything that wasn't me just hanging a sheet up in my apartment :)

For this party, we created a audio reactive visual for each of the DJs then projected them onto the a section of the ceiling. Our timeframe was one day (we started in the morning and finished during the party that night) so we kept the designs simple and are quite happy with the result. The projector itself made a nice glow against the walls, which was a unexpected but welcomed side effect.

Quartz Composer itself was quite useful, as we could modify and update the visuals without needed to restart them.

We used Kineme's Audio patch and Vade's V002 Blur in the composition.

We have also made a channel for future Sentient Worlds work, which can be found here http://vimeo.com/channels/sentientworlds

Cheers

Lango

Thanks franz!

We got our hands on a CP-A100 http://www.hitachidigitalmedia.com/product.do?actionName=showProductActi... which is the most amazing projector I have ever seen. From only 42cm throw it can project a 152cm (60 Inches for those non-metric people) image which is just ridiculously good. If it wasn't for that projector we wouldn't of been able to get it on the ceiling. Sadly we had to give it back after the party :,(

We also tried to use a TripleHead2Go from Matrox http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/ to also display the visual on his plasma but we couldn't get it working on my iMac.

It was located down the street from me in Brisbane Australia at my mates unit. My mate runs http://dancenode.com/ which is a site full of electronic music news as well as an internet radio station. The party itself was being streamed over the webs and I believe there were 2 other parties in different parts of the world happening at the same time to that music. Which is cool if you think about it.

We are very happy with this and am hoping to show our bigger project in the next month. It's all very exciting stuff!

Nice work, Lango.

I used to have a 3000 sq ft warehouse in centre of Melb with a concrete ceiling and these big concrete beams running across to hold the floor above. Made for a coffered ceiling of sorts and I loved nothing more than borrowing a few hundred 35mm slides from RMIT library and some 16mm from FilmVic and pointing them all at the ceiling. Was great for a party but kinda quaint compared to what you kids are up to now! Thanks for the memory promt>
