Kewl. It's interesting to see where you went with that! It looks like from the way you have those layers rippling from the middle to the outside towards the mid part that you're having some fun with it, and getting in there and seeing that it's pretty reasonable to get some cool effects. I'm kind of getting passionate about raymarching/raytracing/modeling with distance equations lately! I don't think it's an end all/be all solution to stuff, but it's sure an interesting territory. I'm excited for a few years from now, when some of the REALLY intense stuff that's running around 4~5 fps on my laptop now is truly realtime, because that will be a panacea.

I have to admit I don't really understand the shader code - but fiddling with the parameters does start to provide some clues. I often find that even small changes to the code can have pretty disastrous effects (and I mean changes to the numerics not syntax! ;-)
