it should be by going to system preferences and audio sound settings and setting your default output to the devices you want to output to. i didn't do anything with apples HAL so unfortunately at this point you can not direct the synth to specific channels via the plugin but you can go to audio midi utility app your mac comes with and use sound flower or something to create some interesting aggregate routings making it possible to output to different channels etc.. I'm actually working on a new version with apples new au sampler device in lion. this is a sampler unit much like how DLS or sound fonts are made. the new plugin should give you control over cut_off and resonation plus delay, and do things like modulate the LFO rate and what not to create interesting sampler sounds from an audio unit lab sampler preset. with this I'm opting to go the au sampler route because you can create multiple zones and layers to create multi-timbral sounds with polyphonic voicing and stuff like that all from AULab. I'm putting the finishing touches on it so stay tuned i should upload soon. maybe this weekend or next week after my spring semester is over.
unfortunately, right now it is impossible for me to route anything to my desired device because it is an AJA Kona, which is already being permanently used by other software in the machine, so I need to keep system and AJA Kona's sound separate. I decided to use Midi Global output instead, and receive the midi signals in AU Lab which is outputting through AJA, without the risk of getting any intrusive sounds from the system (applications, quicklook etc.)
