TouchOSC and QC

MikeP's picture

Hey guys,

I'm doing everything just to connect touchOSC on my ipod touch to QC and nothing is happening.

on touchOSC settings I've put Host my machine IP address port (outgoing) 60000 port (incoming) 72001

I can not change the value for the Local IP address, and it's set to 192.168.1.59

then in QC I'm just using the oscReceiver example patch from the library. But nothing is happening. Tried running QC in 32 bit and 64 but didn't work.

Can anyone shed some light please.

Many thanks guys, M

Re: TouchOSC and QC

I also tried qcOSC and nothing happened, can't add anything to its settings except the port number which does nothing. Please help!

Re: TouchOSC and QC

If you connect TouchOSC to your computer address it should show you the qcOSC port directly (while running the QC comp), whatever it is. Do you have a firewall or anything that could block ?

Re: TouchOSC and QC

Thanks dude, I've turned off firewall, and my ipod touch is on the same network etc. all as should be can't figure it out! What should happen when I open the attached file, what happens with touchosc and what happens to the qc patch?

Re: TouchOSC and QC

The "key" values in the provided example are not OSC addresses. I use exclusively qcOSC, so I don't know this patch, but I guess you have to put a real OSC address as key, like for TouchOSC : /1/push1 (1 is for the page, push1 is for the push button named "push1").

In TouchOSC, put your receiver IP address as host (127.0.0.1 for the same computer) then choose an outgoing port. Put the same outgoing port number in the OSC patch. With qcOSC, when you'll launch your comp and press your buttons (or whatever you put on your TouchOSC page) it will open output ports automatically.

Hope this is clear, my English is very bad.

Re: TouchOSC and QC

Using touchOSC v 1.8 on my iphone with QC 4.6:

qcOSC is not currently working. No response.

Built-in OSC receiver is working, but not until QC threw an exception, then a computer restart.

Attached is a test qtz using the "simple" touchOSC layout (5 faders, 4 toggles). Change the port in the touchOSC and the QC OSC Receiver, should work. This is to send from iphone to QC, so outgoing port only on touchOSC.

(Without qcOSC's nice auto-populate feature, I lean on Plogue Bidule OSC monitor to help me see if my computer is receiving OSC messages, and to get OSC addresses).

Re: TouchOSC and QC

You guys are the best, thank you both, the patch worked perfectly and all the advice so helpful and learned so much. I had to get it done on an android eventually, ipod touch was problematic.

Much obliged :) M
