Translating keyboard input in QC to what kind of control in VDMX

gabemott's picture

In a QC composition I am changing, the input control is using the keyboard controls-- I want to put the comp into to VDMX to use a a mask, but don't know how to best set it up so that I can control it in VDMX using either the keyboard or a midi control.

I made input splitters, but then they become the check box that in VDMX toggles on and toggles off the input. I want the input to be just like the keyboard where it will trigger/repeat each time I hit the button.

This really isn't composition specific, but attached is a composition by coyne from here http://kineme.net/forum/DevelopingCompositions/Animatorforagridofsprites that I have been stripping down. Right now you use the keyboard up and right to create the stripe column and row patterns and if you click them fast to some beats you will see the effect i'm going for... you'll see I had the input splitters in there but as explained above they don't do the trick... hoping someone can tell me the easy way to set up the same power in VDMX... (i just got lemur for my ipad and have been using touchOSC if midi is the easiest option).

Does VDMX support "momentary midi"? If so, you may be done. Works fine for me as is in CoGe. For the keyboard option, I think you want the Pulse patch in the Library. There's an example patch composition from Apple, but it's pretty straightforward.
