Fullscreen the viewer to the second display

I have this Interactive Theater project that will start in two days. I'll post about it in my hopefully-soon-to-be-active blog http://www.holescapes.wordpress.com.

So everything is fine but I have one problem. I have SEVERAL compositions! I couldn't place them all in 1 comp and activate each since I'll have slower fps.

So my question is whether I can fullscreen the viewer from my desktop(display1) to the projection canvas(second display) directly or not. Usually vj softwares such as VDMX/ modul8 etc. have this option so there is no need to place a small viewer on the second display(which the audience will ofcourse see) first and then fullscreen it!

I'd appreciate it a lot if someone could help me with this.

Cheers!

Re: Fullscreen the viewer to the second display

No sadly not, I wish full screen onto second screen was possible via a keystroke. Why don't you use VDMX? Or put a video mixer in between so you can fade the output to black when loading up a new composition.

I have attached one of GT's superduper projects which allows you to fade between four compositions, the FPS should not suffer because it only renders the comp which is in use.

That's a shame!

Acctually at first I put all the comps in one but the ones that were using films/images became slower throughout the process.

I agree, it would be great to be able to project with Quartz Visulaizer, what is my name doing on the visualizer?

Re: Fullscreen the viewer to the second display

Don't know if you care anymore, but Vidvox have added a feature to VDMX b8 that gives you the option to render images straight to the output canvas, with qtz's in mind. This way your performance is closer to that of QC but from within VDMX.

Re: Fullscreen the viewer to the second display

Hi there, there a several solutions:

(1) using CoGe (opensource, vj mixer tool powered by qc). current release isnt that stable, so shouldnt be used in front a big audience.

(2) using 2 composition: Build a composition mixer (display1) and provide the result to a second composition which runs all the time in fullscreen mode on display 2. To send one image from one composition to another you will need Syphon: http://syphon.v002.info/ Take a look at the examples and should get the whole idea.

Good look. Janni

How does this patch work? I opened it and don't understand what I am able to fade between. Thanks

Re: Fullscreen the viewer to the second display

It fades between four different compositions. With patch parameters change the number 0 > 3 and see the next composition fade up over a couple of seconds.
