Open Quartz Composer without a screen?

Has anyone come accross is it possbile to open QC without a monitor / projector connected to the computer? It gives an error complaining about unsupported graphic card configuration. We are using QC as a very simple audio file player (getting serial data from Arduino and triggering sound files based on that) and wouldn't need a monitor at all. But now it looks like we have to put a screen just to be able to start up QC. I know QC is not the perfect audio player and there are gazillion of software which could do this but for now there is just no time to make this in max / pd / plogue bidule / supercollider / whatever.

You could use a "dummy plug" to fool OSX into thinking there's a monitor connected to a VGA port: http://soerennielsen.dk/mod/VGAdummy/index_en.php

You can disable the graphic card check on startup. See bypassConfigurationCheck under PrivatePreferences.
