I've heard people do what you want to do with this:

yes, i know this option but it gives me only horizontal panoramatic view, but if i want to play more with orientation of external displays TH2go doesn't help me so much. for example resolume on pc or avenue software on mac can put together more solo external displays in one, so i am wondering if it is possible with quartz too.. thx anyway

you can't.

I think there is another way:

As I recently discovered Kineme spooky patch can transfer Images as well. So let's say you have Compostion1 which you'd like to split as you want on 3 screens. Make 3 new compositions(compostion2,3,4). Crop your final rendered image as you like and send them to these new compositions (It's doable, I've tested it). Fullscreen each of the newly-made comps in a different window.

I guess you'll achieve what you're after this way.

you could make the composition into an app and code it to span multiple monitors.. have a look at msaqt source code, the desktop size detection and display code is quite simple.. if that will do..

Re: fullscreen the viewer over 3 external desktops

arrange your monitors A B C from left to right in your display preferences. arrange monitor D above monitor A. make sure ABC monitors are set to the same resolution D doesn't matter just needs to be on top. set viewer to custom.

if i have 3 monitors each one 2560x1440 then you would make your viewer 7680 x 1460 and it will stretch across all 3 screens. notice the 1460, this is arbitrary but will help you get rid of the toolbar. you might want to make your monitors a lower resolution 2560x1440 is just what my monitor is set on and i'm using that as an example.

so what you want to do is drag the custom view size to be a bit smaller than monitor D's resolution. drag the viewer up to monitor D, and arrange so that only the toolbar can be seen on screen D, then drag the viewer down and across the three screens ABC. if your dock is hidden then you should have your viewer on all three screens, and only a partial of viewer toolbar on screen ;D

other than that you would have to design 3 qc apps that when put together make one. so not really sure about going full screen but you can stretch the viewer across them. there are people using multiple heads, screens etc with qc than i'm sure do something similar to this.

The Matrox way can be used in different configurations by rendering and then cropping to how the projectors are stacked: example: 1024 x 2304 cropped into 3 x XGAs arranged horizontally.

You could also try your cards with Syphon - by sending cropped images to other qc patch/viewers. I tested it running, with some frames delay, but I do not know if it works from one card to another.

Tell me how you fare, I need to do six screens soon.

Re: fullscreen the viewer over 3 external desktops

it should work between multiple cards, but it involves bus transfer, hence possible FPS drop. Six screens is not a problem, I've successfully made a 6 screens installations from one computer using multiple QC renderers, all synch'ed (not Syphon'ed)
