iDVDQCPatches

For reference of what I'm talking about, there is a quirky, not really that useful patch inside of iMovie, that works in QC when loaded in the patches folder, called iDVDQCPatches.

Does anyone know if there is a 64 bit version of this in the newer iMovie, or is it still 32-bit, or if it will load in SL if QC's running 64 bit. Even further, if anyone can toss the new version my way it would be awesome (gtoledo3@gmail.com).

Just something I'm curious about, not any kind of urgent matter.

Checked this on release of Ilife 09 and it was 32bit. Not sure if this has been updated though as i'm on office computer, shall check when get home for you.

I miss my Matrix transition too lol

Re: iDVDQCPatches

There are other things that do it, but I like those image broadcast/receiver patches, and selection frame...more than anything it's a curiosity to me, b/c it's one of the few examples of an Apple patch that's "skanky"... (ImageDiffer is the only other one that comes to mind).

Re: iDVDQCPatches

As it happens, the iDVDQCPatches have only ever worked in 10.5 for me.

32 bit or 64 bit QC 4 [10.6.2], using either home QC Patches or admin QC Patches folder - It doesn't even cough up a line in the Graph Foundation Log as being wrong architecture.

It has been, to all intents and purposes, made into an iMovie specific QC plugin as far as I can tell.

Re: iDVDQCPatches

Hmm, weird, because the bundle (of the new one) says it's a Graph Foundation plugin...if it's compiled 32-bit, and QC is run 32 bit, it should load. If it's 64-bit, it should load regular... the old one DOES definitely load in SL if you run QC 32 bit.

It always has come up weird, description-wise, in the Patch Creator....it might come up as OxygeneLayers or something in the Graph Foundation log as well, not sure.

Hmm, I just doubt that it's been converted to being iMovie specific, since there is nothing in the plists to keep it application specific... I'm not in SL right now, but this will be interesting to check out.

Re: iDVDQCPatches

Well, the OxygeneLayers didn't actually load at all in the Patch Library, I could search for any of the items listed in its plist, but they weren't showing in the Patch Library list regardless of the 32/64 bit setting for QC 4. So I then ditched it.

Turns out your right though :-)

Having retried installing the plugin to the ~/Library/Quartz Composer Patches , it actually works in 32 bit QC 4.

The only explanation I can find is either that there was some sort of cache issue - not sure if that was the case, or the fact that I re-installed the iDVDQCPatches after de-installing an entirely different Graphics plugin that also didn't fully operate in QC 4.

Now got the O2 Transitions and the Graph Layer collection again.

I do find that loading freshly installed plugins can provoke errors like that from time to time, you install it, the current version, yet it doesn't evidence in the Patch Library - de-install, re-install - it works.

Re: iDVDQCPatches

a few months ago i was poking around the idvd contents and noticed some qc patches. i opened one of them in qc it seemed to open ok. if i remember correctly the one i opened didn't run in qc but it seemed like it could have been modified to sort f hack in your own idvd template. i have not tried this but now that its mentioned i'm intrigued again. when i get my computer back from the repair shop i will check it out in SL. has any one tried on a modification of any sorts ?

There is a qtz in the actual contents to facilitate the dissolve effects...maybe that was it?
