Possibly the stupidest question of all; How to Update QC??

idlefon's picture

I know my question is lame, but I thought QC updates via the xcode update. The thing is that I installed Xcode 3.2 from the dvd (updated from 10.5.8 to 10.6). QC was very slow, so was VDMX. My comps that ran 30 fps on leopard were doing 20 fps hardly. I read about the iterator slowness and 10.6 QC bugs. so I thought an upgrade will solve everything. I downloaded Xcode 3.2.4 with ios installer (which took me about 5days considering Iran's internet speed), installed it and my QC version didn't change, it still shows "Version 4.0 (103.1)". So please could someone enlighten me about this matter. cheers everyone!

Re: Possibly the stupidest question of all; How to Update QC??

If you've updated from 10.5.8 to 10.6 and haven't installed the 10.6.x updates you'll have missed some changes to QC that effected the operation of QC.

Similarly, not having the updates to XCode installed will mean you're lagging behind on some frameworks, non QC essentially.

Version 4.0 (103.1)

Framework Version 4.2 ({156.28})

is the information on my QC on 10.6.5.

If yours differs, you're running an older version.

There are lots of posts at each update point from 10.6.1 through to 10.6.5 on the site that speak of different problems, some of which have been overcome with later releases of GL Tools, Audio Tools, Midi Tools or 3D Tools, whatever...

The Software Updates contain any graphics driver updates and Core Image & OpenGL, OpenCL or Javascript updates within the code updates for the frameworks affected. It also contains any update to the QuartzComposer framework.

The Quartz Composer framework at 10.6.1 was version 156.6.

Quartz Composer can be affected, both positively and negatively, by updates to any of the frameworks it relies upon for its operations.

Re: Possibly the stupidest question of all; How to Update QC??

Thanks cybero for the quick reply! My QC actually states the same info as yours so I guess mine is the latest version as well. I updated my os to 10.6.5 immediately after I updated to 10.6 but I didn't have the latest xcode.

Cheers again!
