hi, i am new to kineme and quartz composer .. did some pure data and vvvv before. but somehow quartz is different. i already stuck in a very simple patch .. tried to find some tutorial but didnt solve the problem .. i want to show a 3d object in the viewer. so i put the (3d file), i tried obj/dxf/3ds connect the (output object) with the (input object) of the (3d object renderer) nothing happens in the viewer. what am i missing? seems somehow i dont understand how this should work (i am using snow leopard) thx for help!!

Almost certainly your file will be lacking in Normals & Faces , if you hover over the output from the 3D Loader patch, you'll see some details of the file structure, Normals 0 & Faces 0 results in a failure to render in QC via Kineme 3D.

So resolve the calculation of your objects Normals & Faces & you should be good to go.

I find the Open Source and free Mesh Lab very useful in that regard.

Some .dxf via export from 3rd party applications are pretty lightweight on such necessary details.

Vertices alone doesn't cut it, unfortunately.

Try the attached file.

Do the sample compositions in the dmg work for you? Try those out, and if they do, try substituting 3d model files where applicable.

hm. they also don't work for me on snow leopard 10.6.

didn't use kineme3d for a while. in leopard they use to work without problems.

even the examples doesnt show any models ... any suggestions?

Re: dont get kineme 3d object renderer showing

If you have already tried the usual workarounds - deinstall plugin, reinstall plugin then I might suggest that you have a problem that is possibly confined to a few users.

I can't reproduce this problem. and that suggests to me it's all the more likely that it is a problem that has its cause either in a particular software mix , or to do with a particular type of hardware.

Did you do an upgrade install of Snow Leopard? Just trying to pin down what might be the specifics of the case.

I have the same problem. I cant seem to load any objects, including ur included wheel. I am running leopard, and a presumably expired kineme3d. I'd like to buy it but I want to know that it works first lol, please help.

Presumably expired?

Re: dont get kineme 3d object renderer showing

yes, I downloaded it quite a while ago and never tried to use it, stupidly. What can I expect if it is expired, the patches to not be in the creator or just not rendering an output? I kinda hope this is the problem and a simple registration fixes it

Re: dont get kineme 3d object renderer showing

Ok, just registered and no change. I'm an absolute baby with this stuff but i've seen others do exactly what i'm doing with no dramas. Not happy.

Re: dont get kineme 3d object renderer showing

Ok, if anyone as inexperienced as me is having the same problem, this is what i did to solve: Downloaded MeshLab Open file and goto filters>remeshing>close holes. Save as. This has worked for just about every model i've tried. And I've found that just about every free/stock model on the net needs it!

Re: dont get kineme 3d object renderer showing

ohhh. Well, you may also want to toggle normalize back and forth as well, if you aren't "seeing" the model at first, it may be ultra tiny, or humongous.

Definitely demo kineme3D with the example compositions and models, to see what it looks like with correct models.

That , actually , is a really good tip borne from your increasing level of experience [glow with pride, you :-)] & how true about most free models needing such 'repair' procedures.

Cheers, blackburst.
