Movie Loader Movie Duration Output to Math Expression Problem

Hello, I am having trouble getting Movie Loader movie duration (number) out to any math or compare tool. When I click on the output of movie loader i can see the numbers but on the other side of the cable number is still 0 and is not changing. I am running 10.7 Lion and QC 4.5 Is this an bug and is there a workaround ? I also tried javascript to math and it is not working either. But I can route that number to blue patches (like billboard)

Any help is appreciated . Thanks

Remember that values do not appear on the input port of downstream patches unless they are "pulled" by consumer. The javascript or math patch must be hooked up (directly or indirectly) to a consumer (blue) patch such as a sprite. Everything triggers backwards through the cables from consumer patches.

I suppose the idea is efficiency: why publish a value if it's not going to be consumed?

Thank you for the reply, Yes it sounds logical. What is the technique to pull the values ? In my logic connecting them should pull the values. What should I do ? Thanks,
