QTZ Composer for live story writing performances

Marcos's picture

Dear All, My name is Marcos and I'm a writer. What I currently do as part of my artistic research is 'live writing'. What does this mean? I basically improvise story writing in front of readers using a projector to let them read in real time. We also perform in theatres exploring the mix between live writing, music, acting and other disciplines. Besides, I also conduct 'writing jams' where we invite people to write in front of others with live music.

I'm exploring new ways of writing and therefore I'm playing with video mixed with real time typing (via Screen Capture shyphon and into Millumin). The thing is I'd like to go further and learn how to transform text as I type. Could someone help me and tell me where could I learn to use Quartz to input typing and output whatever...

In other words, what is the patch I need to import strings directly from the keyboard?

What I want to achieve is, for instance, to add some effects to text when some string shows up (i.e. if you detect the word 'fly', the word could move up...)

I know this may be tricky, but any orientation would be extremely helpful. Best!

How can I add a video to show you what I need? The spam won't allow me to add a youtube link

Check out the above link, its made by Smokris. The patch uses a plugin called freeboard (available from the downloads section), which may be up you alley. After that you could use a series of string compares and conditions for word detection, or maybe javascript to keep it simpler.

I modified the smokris example above, still uses the freeboard patch. Check it out and let me know what you think.
