It's huge alright, and way slick too, as I also posted at the demo clip over at Vimeo. This too cool CoGe plugin gobbled up most of my day yesterday.

The issue is going to be difficulty in publishing fully functional compositions utilizing the plugin due to the need to also publish the .abr Photoshop files in accompanyment. Although those files abound for free online without restriction as to usage ... actually distributing the files isn't part of most usage agreements.

That said, in the case of many of the aforementioned .abr files, it would seem that we are nonetheless at liberty to post videos of our CoGePSBrushes compositions although it's likely to require publicly crediting the authors of the brushes and that could amount to quite a lengthy list of URLs if very many brushes were used.

hmmmmmmm. Does anybody here perhaps write their own brushes that they are willing to let us both publish and distribute? Regardless, here's my take on the CoGePSBrushes plugin. This study incorporates dual instances of a variation on Iterator - Transparency.qtz from the Conceptual folder of the developer compositions. The Photoshop files Brushed Ink 18 Brush set.abr (juiceboxvisual) and Finger Paints by juiceboxvisual.net.abr were utilized. It was recorded with Kineme QuartzCrystal.

Well you can make your own in Photoshop for sure , then just distribute your brush[es] as you see fit.

Re: Check this Out - CoGe Photoshop brushes plugin - ...

I've been trying to register but it won't send me an email and it won;t let me re-register because my email is already in use. Bummer ;(

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Check this Out - CoGe Photoshop brushes plugin - ...

ah well, when it comes to registration emails, patience really is the key virtue, especially if the registrar's mail server is getting slightly cludged by being knocked for confirmation email by goodness knows how many requests :-)

Re: Check this Out - CoGe Photoshop brushes plugin - ...

Hooray - now if it would only work in SL QC 4. That would be brilliant. It does load in the patch library :-)

However the Console says this

05/11/2009 15:36:28 Quartz Composer[1174] *** Assertion failure in -[BrushFile parseBrushFile:], /Users/lov/Documents/QC Projects/CoGePSBrushes/BrushFile.m:230

which looks like it is looking for a file on your system .lov :-( & then it spits its dummy out.

Re: Check this Out - CoGe Photoshop brushes plugin - ...

Sorry, I didn't correctly understand you :(

I couldn't test it on 10.5, but this should working with QC3 too.

Do you use QC4 and the plugin doesn't working? You must run QC4 in 32-bit mode to use this.

Re: Check this Out - CoGe Photoshop brushes plugin - ...

Ah - of course. I was running the plugin in 64 bit QC 4 / SL . Now the Console just says get brushes... .

Re: Check this Out - CoGe Photoshop brushes plugin - ...

Sorry it's taken so long to respond on this one, but I've been needing to get busy on other stuff.

This a link to a Vimeo video which should be ready within a half hour of this post http://vimeo.com/8928746 .

Uses the Coge Plugin for the Image input and 2D Fluid too.

Re: Check this Out - CoGe Photoshop brushes plugin - ...

Looks nice. Have you any interesting messages on console why Quart Crystal won't render it?

cybero's picture
Re: Check this Out - CoGe Photoshop brushes plugin - ...

LOL - no messages at all & guess what, on what seems to be a circumstantially contradictory day, I am right now encoding a CoGe brushes based offline render in Quartz Crystal - so that must have just been to do with using maybe one too many filters or RII macros or something , simplified the composition and lo and behold - success or maybe lo and behold later as I'll post this latest render up somewhere else later today as well as credit the brush makers - most came from deviant art and one or two are actually mine - whoopee :-) .
