what are kineme gl quad 'u' and 'v' values for?

can anyone tell me what kineme gl quad 'u' and 'v' values are for? i can't seem to find reference to them.

texture coords

U and V are texture mapping coordinates (also known as S & T in opengl). They control how the texture image gets mapped across the quad.
