Networking between Laptops using Bluetooth

scalf's picture

I have been using 1024's network patches with great success. However, when I don't have a wi-fi network or a way to create one, there is no communication.

That was until I got my computers to see each other over the bluetooth connection. I could send files, but I could not send things through Quartz.

My questions are:

-Should you be able to send Quartz Messages through Bluetooth?

-Is there a different Network sender w/in Quartz I should use?

-Does anyone know an "effective" range for Bluetooth between laptops

Thank you for your time

If there's no wifi network, you can still create one. Click your wifi icon, then "Create Network". This will actually create a network from computer to computer without the need of a router...

Bluetooth is slower and its range (although advertised as 10meters) is around 5meters.

If you're less than a few meters, then consider making a network with a Firewire cable.

Wow!! Franz this is great. It's been a while since I started looking for a way to send QC data to another computer and for some bizarre reason didn't find this amazing plug in till now.

Thanks alot!!

performance is not so great, but it provides a hassle-free 0config mechanism.
