Video Mapping

Hello everybody. I want to do video mapping. I have some compositions that I would like to use to project in some objects. How can I do this ? Can anyone help me, or give me a tip? Thanks

Re: Video Mapping

Try experimenting with MadMapper from 1024 Blog http://1024d.wordpress.com/category/software/madmapper-software/.

Thanks guys. Franz I'll wait for your release then. =D

Cheers

Re: Video Mapping

no need to wait. with syphon plugin, you can pipe QC to MadMapper directly. (Native QTZ rendering is a bonus to avoid the use of Syphon, which, in some very precise scenarios can lead to trouble/FPS slowdown).

So far MadMapper is already QC-ready thanks to Syphon (big up to masters vade/bangnoise)

Re: Video Mapping

Native qtz rendering sounds promising. Please tell us more about the scenarios which lead to the slowdown.

Re: Video Mapping

QC rendering on main screen -> syphon, syphon -> MadMapper, MadMapper fullscreen on 2nd screen, in some complicated cases (such as one window over the other, and that kind of annoying BS)

Apple engineer's quote: "This is due to WindowServer scheduling issue combined with having multiple displays being updated at the same time, combined with the way in which screen updates are done today on Mac OS X."

(so not a syphon/madmapper problem - alleluia - , but an OSX problem.)

Re: Video Mapping

Did they leave the bug open, or close it?

Re: Video Mapping

This bug reported by me and also a lot of others developers in the last 2 (or so) years. So sad about it still not fixed :/

Re: Video Mapping

... you know, if it runs the comp, people can still live edit what's going on in MadMapper by using QCEditCompositions, which is a fairly cool thing.

Looking at this again, I'm wondering if this could also be a way of working around doing live edits in QC in Lion (which seem to be laggy in certain instances). Darn, this may be a great thing, have to investigate more. It seems like you can't save, and that you have to copy&paste into a new composition.

Re: Video Mapping

Cheers Franz that makes sense :(

And back to the opening question.... Marco try some basic stuff first like mapping a cube or a corner/wall of your room. You can work with plugins like _1024_Perspective to achieve this. Have a look at the comps in this thread http://kineme.net/forum/Discussion/SnowLeopard/StructureGLtoolsquad There are a few alternatives to MM around up http://kineme.net/forum/Interactive/MappitAQuartzVideoMappingApp
