Trying to make a Kaossilator within Quartz Composer

scalf's picture

I have seen a few videos for hooking up a physical kaossilator with some other bits to QC and making some noise, and I have seen a 1024_synth patch made by 1024 ( http://1024d.wordpress.com/) which is found in the download box, but I haven't figured out how to change the source sound, although the x - y coords of the mouse control pitch and such.

So is there an existing patch similar to a kaossilator for QC, or a way to change the source sound in the 1024_synth patch, or maybe another route. My goal is to allow a user engaging the Tryplex Toolkit to act as the controls for a Kaossilator

Thanks

imo it is a better route to generate the sound with ableton live or plogue bidule. Just send midi data from QC to your sound host.

i agree its much better to use an audio program in concatenation with quartz. sort of use quartz as the visual front end.

here is a patch i use kinect tuio ->chaosc -> osculator -> ? (virtual synth)

quartz and osculator patches. ;)

requires the tuio client plugin.

Hi Dust, I'm new to quartz composer and I wanted to do the same thing as your "chaosc" project. Your one, you are controlling the pitch of the sound right? I want to do the same (control the music) but I download your chaosc.zip but I get only piano sound. I want to know how to do like yours? I'm so new to this but I need to do final project for my course :S please help me... Thanks :)

well in that video im just using logic sequence... actually maine_stage that comes with logic is better suited for this type of midi performance. if i remember correctly with this set up i was using tuio to qc then out of qc via osc to osculator then into logic. you have to assign the pitches via osculator note sender. here is a plugin that i made that does something similar. http://kineme.net/composition/dust/MidiArpeggiator#comment-24000
