Just getting started in real time compositions, etc - Near Chicago

Hi all, I'm coming in from the Flash and Video world. Just starting to get going on real time stuff.

I have worked a bit with Processing in the past, though most of my experience is in pr-erendered motion graphics and programmatic/generative stuff using flash.

Here is my blog: http://visualrinse.com

Looking forward to getting my feet wet here. I have Purchase Kineme and am downloading and learning a lot of cool stuff right now.

Anyone here work in Flash? Have you gotten your Flash stuff into QC? Just curious.

I am also looking into OpenFrameworks... how does it compare to what you can with QC and Kineme together?

Open Frameworks, check out memo.tv , and vade's blog post on ofx forums.

Flash in Quartz Composer, [Once there was way to get back homeward - see SteamShift - Cat Mask Test. Now it is basically a non - starter, unless you use WebKit Plugin by CoGe. Even then, the performance might be marred when running complex .swf .

Real Time stuff is really great, requires Mac hardware in situ, but search this site, indeed some very recent posts. You'll find it seems tantalisingly close, but for a variety of timing, signalling and compatibility problems.

Has anybody told smokris and cwright about this development?! Haha

Kineme is the name of the company? that sells five commercial products and creates a whole raft of other shareware plugins for QC. To get access to downloads of all the products go to your user profile and enable the beta testing option, then go here

I'm really surprised there hasn't been more crossover from the flash world to QC to be honest — especially for the in-situ/non-www/museam-exhibit, like some of the stuff on your reel. Most of the flash developers/designers I speak to haven't even heard of QC and are still bitching about Adobe's cross compiler being headed off at the pass for iOS devices (jee, I didn't see that coming </sarcasm>) !

I expect you're in the van-guard of an avalanche of users traditionally in the Adobe CS universe that will want to use QC. If and when the QC framework hits iOS in a few years (assuming), we're going to see an incredibly powerful interactive platform development environment. Lots of clients will want a piece of that.

Not company -- The company is "Kosada" (http://kosada.com); kineme is the "project" (whatever that means - semantics).

sorry for the semantic issues, yeah... I bought the Kineme 3D plugin.

I also see a lot of Flashers likely headed to QC soon. Most of us have been dabbling in Processing for some time, but QC feels just as homey, if not more so.

BTW, I was in Athens last summer. Cool small town. Lots of good beer! I went to some Mexican place that was phenomenal. I spoke at the Spring Break '09 conference on some Drupal stuff.
