Particle Tools, render&resolume help

Ralph's picture

hi there I've just started playing around in qc and i have some silly questions. when I load a .jpg in particle tools there always is a black box around my image. I made the images in photoshop with several different background colors. I've tried different blending modes and face culling modes. (don't know what face culling accually does since I just started) What can do to just have the image slide over other instead of the black box?

Some compositions I made go to a different color when a load them in resolume. I noticed the spider button when i press that some of the patches start blinking red. that's a bad thing right? What can I do?

Thanks for your time

Re: Particle Tools, render&resolume help

Hi, you're running 64 bit SL aren't you, and opening this up in 64 bit QC, you will find that full alpha blending support is only achieved in 32 bit QC on SL [10.6.x], like in Leopard or if you flag QC to run as 32 bit, which you can do by searching for QC in Spotlight do a Get Info and flag the 32 bit box, or else duplicate the QC application, adding 32 bit to its name and then flagging the Get Info setting.

Particle Tools works properly in SL on 32 bit QC only [ :-)].

Re: Particle Tools, render&resolume help

Thanks a lot! It now looks less crappy :) I found that this does not solve the resolume issue maybe you can find it in de .qtz file without using resolume. I like the look of the glitchy shapes, but I might have used the replicate in space patch the wrong way since I'm a noob.

Re: Particle Tools, render&resolume help

You shouldn't be having any such problem with Resolume Avenue, see attached picture, showing how this file works in QC 32 bit and Avenue too, might be a version issue of course, this is in 3.2.0.

The odd triangles above the circles, which could just as easily have been your transparent image, are the result of rendering to a VBO set to Add blending

Re: Particle Tools, render&resolume help

Yes the paars.qtz does work. its the vaag.qtz that gives me wrong colors in resolume.

where can i read more about the different kinds of rendering?
