GLTools 1.6 UNSTABLEi loaded GLTools 1.6 and i am having issues with stability. MAC PROPERTIES: Pentium Dual CORE 3.02Ghz 8 Gig Memory Nvidea dual video card 2TB G-Tech Esata Drive the project works great in Quartz but when i drop it in Resolume it crashes Resolume. So next I tried to see if i needed to defrag my HD. when i opened Drive Genus, a warning window open up that reads: "Kineme GLTools QC Patch" has known stability issues and is incompatible with Drive Genius. Please check with the vendor for an update, or disable it. If you choose to continue using Drive Genius with this unstable application, Kineme GLTools QC Patch may crash both itself and Drive Genius. this is how a found out that it is unstable. is there any info that i can send you that can help you fix this issue. in the meantime i will try 1.5 and see if that fixes issue

GL TOOLS 1.5 also Unstable
Hmm. Drive Genius uses a qtz in it's resources. At one point there was an issue with Alpha Blend function and Snow Leopard. I wonder if Drive Genius put some warning because of that. It doesn't do that with the old version of Drive Genius, fyi.
You should check to make sure you have patches and plugins in your actual User folder, and not a System/Library or Library location.
i have 3.0.2. this just told me there is stability issues. there are still issues with resolume handling the composition. using the Color Mask and Camera patches only. all compositions without Kineme plugins work flawless.
wish i could upload composition, but i have a lot of time invested and other KEY players have helped me. i don't feel right letting one of those KEY players idea leak. it is a respect thing.
i have sent resolume tech support GLtools 1.6 to see if it is on there end.
PUZZLING!!!!
I wonder what's causing the problem in Resolume... is it crashing? If you're doing any manipulation of the alpha channel with the Color Mask, maybe Resolume is rendering it transparently instead of the "alpha black" you get with QC. Maybe try changing the base clear to "black" (0,0,0,1), and not alpha (0,0,0,0) RGBA ? I may be barking up the wrong tree there, I don't use Resolume.
I'm curious how Drive Genius could comment on a QC patch's stability or not. Very interesting. Maybe you should try replacing your particular downloaded version (?).
i think it might be resolume. i will get to you in 20 min. downloading just released update.
just did a clean reboot. in process of loading updates, ableton live 8, Resolume and plugins. issue with Resolume because all my quartz did not work.
We're continuing this discussion off-forum, but, for the record:
Drive Genius
is warning about instability in GLTools 1.6, its warning is incorrect.I find this to be somewhat serendipitous, because I've been using Drive Genius a bunch this week, to help mount a large FAT32 HD that Disk Utility wants to ignore folders/partitions, until Disc Utility starts reading it (and enjoy the cool qtz's that are used in it's menus and animations - really interesting work - the arenamenu.qtz is one cool piece of work).
Like I stated above (not trying to be redundant), I'm using an old version (I get a prompt about dl'ing a new one, which I ignore), and I get no such warnings, after scanning through dozens of GL Tools versions. Extremely odd. None of the functions in the old one would seem to do anything that could/would possibly report something valid about whether a QC patch works correctly. I've found it to be useful in doing some stuff that Disk Utility can't manage though.
there was an issue with Resolume. i scrubbed the drive and renitstalled programs needed and everything works now. i made a time machine backup that i will use as a restore disk if i have issues later. the newest version of drive genius is still coming up with error message. it also told me my other partition on the same drive has errors and needs to be fixed. i will work on that this weekend.
