Re: greets from Manwe

greetings.

this may be a bit off topic but you said your from moscow so i have a specific russian question if you don't mind answering that would help me out a bit.

i am looking for a icon that i can render in black and white that represents the russian language. i see there is the supreme symbol of the double headed bird but that is a bit complex for my needs. the old russian flag symbol would work well but I'm not sure if using that symbol would upset people. is there any sort of universal symbol that denotes the russian language ? or any symbol that any russian would know this button means russian ? i need it for an iPhone app I'm making ?

thanks

Re: greets from Manwe

Double headed eagle is the worst choice (actually, it's the emblem of german Habsburger dynasty). Almost nobody here like it. For the small icon you can use the modern Russian flag (white, blue, red) or old USSR flag (red with a small yellow star in a corner). Also (if the icon size is big enough) you can use matrioshka doll or samovar or balalaika - 100% russian references. Good luck!

Re: greets from Manwe

thanks Manwe,

i know a bit about the double headed eagle. at one point in my life during my agnostic search for illumination i came upon hermetiscism and the use of that symbol while i was researching the symbology attached to my family crest.

actually it is one of the oldest known symbols to man and has been around for many millennia possibly pre sumerian. obviously it has been re-used in a wide variety ways obscuring its true meaning.

either way it doesn't matter to me as i have now denounced any notion of god and choose to believe in aliens now. thank you for the info, the double headed eagle being a bad choice is the exact reason i am wanting to ask this question.

i have been having the same issue with the spanish language. I'm down to an icon of a bull (thanks offnol) or che guvera.

most defiantly going to check out your patch when i get home.

thanks Manwe

Manwe that was awesome... pretty impressive for a first time qc demo.... after watching that i guess my question wasn't totally off topic. plenty of russian icons in the demo. the music totally fits. where did you find that ?

Btw, I guess it would be helpful to point out that this is a demo, and made 2nd place in the demo competition at the chaos constructions demo party in St. Petersburg a couple of days back :)

It's a famous USSR electronic band called "Zodiac". Their first album "Disco Alliance" was very very popular.

Smooth performance from the presentation. 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's spaceflight this year :-).

Memories also of Sputnik and orbiting dogs mentioned on news programmes.

Really good use of timelining.

It's interesting to note that the compiled application doesn't fail to present the movies , even though in Lion, the Movie Importer patch doesn't present any at all.

@Manwe

I thought the main Russian dynasty was that of the House of Romanov, whose emblem does include a much decorated black double headed eagle. [Probably still much hated].

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Hapsburg's emblem was of a lion rampant and that their extensive dominion ceased at Poland's borders.

]I think the matrioshka doll is a good choice, cute and playful.

Great demo composition, BTW.

Habsburgs rules Holy Roman Empire Of German Nation in 1438-1806 as emperors. Check their embleme: http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Файл:Wappen_röm.kaiser.JPG Also compare the family name "Romanov" of russian emperors. It is actually an alias means "roman". And all of russian emperors were germans.

i think it might be interesting to point out that only maybe 10 seconds of this demo was actually composed of a movie file if you negate the fact that audio track is a movie file. i find the part where stars are flying up and you can see the shimmer of the water a particular nice effect and a nice example of making otherwise static images come to life. as this comp is primarily composed of images and and a few mesh's. i applaud this patches neat tidy order as to me that is the most impressive part. All the scenes and timelines are clear and concise and is very easy to follow the logical structure and order things. I always start noodling that way but as i add... things end up turning into a bowl spaghetti in the end.

for me the double headed eagle doesn't depict the out reach of the roman empire at all. its actually a poor choice for russian icon i believe because there are like 20 other nations that use it as there emblem as well. why do so many, nations and theosophical / religious societies use this symbol ? it really leaves a lot of questions to be answered and is brazen reminder of a lost time.

well because most scholars believe that it is a representation of the sumerian god Ninurta who was Niburian and decedent of the Anunnaki. The Anunnaki being the alien race that created the Sumerian culture where human life as we know it began. Stichin a linguist who has actually spent the majority of his life deciphering sumerian archeological finds has deciphered this tablet.

http://arcturi.com/sitebuilder/images/Sumerian-Tablet-495x288.jpg

this tablet depicts the earth being the seventh planet from pluto, I don't know how many years before us as a human race figured out the earth revolves around the sun. Why are the russians so interested in space, why do they use this symbol still. It all leaves more questions than it does answers for me.

The most interesting thing is Stichin is uncontested by all of academia. Instead of contesting Stichins findings the Vatican's hires the guy as a consultant as well as the russians and the US government in Iraq. Why ?

So all this stuff about the double headed eagle being symbolic of church and state for the roman empire etc means one thing to me. Jesus must have been an alien.

Ok that sounded kind of funny I'm serious though maybe seriously crazy... however I did take my medication today. So that may be a bad symbol to represent any sort of national russian pride or what ever. The funny thing is I was more concerned with using the russian navy symbol or communist star.

I try not to get into political and or religious debates with anybody but my mother or x - wife. Some people hold faith close to them and I generally believe faith is a much needed component in many peoples lives and for that if I offended you in any way I'm sorry.

looks more like 30+ seconds to me :-) [mult & rocket]

Lots of really good time-lining.

Because we have a lot of space-oriented references in our old folk tales, as you can notice from cartoons I used in this demo. Travels to the moon, ekranoplans, circles on a fields, rockets and so on are usual for russian old tales. May be they directs constructor's minds?

P.S. Thanks for your appreciation of my composition's structure.
