Data Tools… is the new Spooky memory-tight?

usefuldesign.au's picture

I seemed to miss the release of Data Tools. MathsExpression patch seems like it was written just for me, as in, I really like it an have wanted something like that many times.

Good that the expression get repeated inside patch display — top marks for that!

The old structure tools plugin that needs to be removed is actually called _StructureMaker.plugin on my System but I may have renamed it myself.

Is the old advisory on Spooky that it can leak and don't use it for anything serious removed now?

Still examining the other patches, quite a few I would have had a go a writing if I was in the QC Plug-in writing game, cool!

In the v0.2 release notes (2008-02-26) there's a warning about leaks when auto-clean is disabled.

@cwright has this commit message from 2009-12-29:

"added spooky nexus... to manage cleanup when everyone's finished (to prevent leaks). Spooky should be stable/reliable/leak free now."

Thanks Jaymie, I'd been lead to believe it was still leaky, should have not relied on hear-say!

This should be a decent test of it, and to flip the layer orders around and what not, so that the iterator evaluates before or after, and check to see if both are OK.

Oh, I forget that with all your behind the scenes, heady, opining about QC function, arguing, and voracious effort to shore up such opinions, you haven't used the last two iterations of QC or the OS. My bad.

You can go in there and put some lfo's to external timebase or something. Do you know how to do that?

This was super helpful. Still working with it, but for now this is providing a more stable solution for saving interaction positions using Structure To/From Files.

Yeah I just wasn't sure what you had the comp doing so wasn't sure what I was supposed to be replicating with my own Interaction macros I wrote with math expression patches. Hey keep the insults coming, man. It's good that I don't get ahead of myself and need a reality check now and then!
