If Quartz Compositions could run on iOS, what kind of app would you make with QC?New almost-fortnightly poll: If Quartz Compositions could run on iOS, what kind of app would you make with QC? You may choose more than one response, or write in your own kind of app. Interactive visual compositions 67% (32 votes) Controller/interface for another system 56% (27 votes) Data visualizer 54% (26 votes) Music visualizer 44% (21 votes) Casual game 31% (15 votes) (I'd make something, but I'm not sure what yet) 29% (14 votes) Sound generator 25% (12 votes) 3D game 19% (9 votes) Photo effects 13% (6 votes) Kiosk 10% (5 votes) (I wouldn't make anything for iOS) 4% (2 votes) Total voters: 48

Don't tease us like this ...
I skipped a beat just at the thought too.....
A photography app, for sure! I've developed optimised image processing for fast & high-quality lens effects and stylistic stuff, but have no way of easily porting to iOS due to the rather...complicated nature of learning Obj-C and using the rather different graphics chipset capabilities. Well beyond me, and Quartz Composer is really the only way for me to program visual effects easily.
Something like QC for iOS would be amazing. :)
This reminded me of this wowlab video. Anyone know how this worked?
hello, could be just vnc (or any kind of remote screen control)
That's what I was thinking, but based on the other stuff those guys do, I was wondering if there was something more to that.
i wonder how close QC is to running on IOS now ? the last i looked open cl ran privately on iOS. building custom ci filters and creating custom/stock filter chains would be way easier if QC ran on iOS. i think it would be brillant if the itunes music player in IOS had a visualizer and there was some sort of QC protocol that would enable us to make visualizers instead of making a separate music player app with visualizer some sort of built in stuff would be cool. i would honestly be happy with just some basic iOS provider patches like Touches, Accelerometer, GPS, etc... and then some basic consumer patches like sprites glsl etc...
Are u guys building a new QuartzComposer? just saying....
:)
And if yes, please use a geometry/mapping prebuilt in the viewer, with multiple monitors support. And make it full compatible with all preexistent .qtz
:)
And a pony. I want a pony.
Is that a legacy your really, really want to hold on to ;-)
ooooooooh! pony, yes! Can it have ribbons in its mane?
Oh, that and Whorld Peas.
I'd love to see QC run on iOS, but for a larger reason. Because it would then be mobile. Ultimately, I would like to see it on any platform, but to accomplish that it would have to be rebuilt and not tied to the Apple ecosystem. So that means HTML5, Javascript (and all the myriad flavors thereof).
I really want to urge you guys to make something cross platform. Your userbase would explode, and it would create all kinds really neat innovation around it. Perhaps something like Threenodes.js (heck there's a lot of ground work there already ), and then the exported file can be plugged into a Phonegap type wrapper. This would mean your stuff could run on any platform, any device, any where. It would be amazing.
One of the best bits of QC is that it can be embedded in apps.....Whilst you could just embed a browser it seems like a lot of overhead and you would most probably loose things like syphon.
