Release: MIDI Tools, v20071211

Release Type: Beta
Version: 20071211
Release Notes

This update to the Global MIDI Beta removes some stale ports and adds some debugging messages to help diagnose connection issues. Messages are visible in Console.app, and should give a fairly verbose break down of what it's (not?) doing when connecting/disconnecting.

(please make sure the 'inputPortFilter' input is empty/unattached in your compositions before upgrading, otherwise you might run into problems)

Me Again <:

Hokay, when I connect the Value output on a Kineme Global Input MIDI CC to the input of an Image With String; the console says this:

12/12/07 6:33:13 PM Quartz Composer[283] Connecting to MIDI Sources 12/12/07 6:33:13 PM Quartz Composer[283] Operating in Global Mode 12/12/07 6:33:13 PM Quartz Composer[283] * Connecting to IAC Driver Bus 1 12/12/07 6:33:13 PM Quartz Composer[283] * Connecting to USB Trigger Finger

Should I expect to see anything else interesting showing up after that? I've got Live throwing MIDI to the IAC driver on channel 1, and have asked the controller to listen to channel 1; and I'm still not having all of the joy in the world.

Bashing gleefully on my trigger finger doesn't do anything interesting either; beyond provoking perturbed looks from resident cat.

Anyone on The Internets have a degenerate example I can try to see if it's something bizarroworld with my computer (For viewers who haven't been playing along, the input MIDI controller doesn't seem to be outputting any values for me)?

This ended up being a case of incorrect patch for a given message type.
