Commercial KnM Plugs / Runtime version

Hi, would you ever consider making runtime versions of your commercial QC plugins ? Esp. KnM 3D and ArtNet. This would be very usefull when bundling plugins into an app (according to the method Chris mentioned, which actually works). A kind of REDUX version of the plugs. that works within an app, but do not show up in the QC editor.

any thoughts ?

Re: Commercial KnM Plugs / Runtime version

Definitely. We (smokris & I) have discussed this very problem a lot actually.

we'd need to modify the plugins to only work within a Target App. We have a few ways to accomplish this, but we need to work with the app developer to get that set up. So far, not many app coders have contacted us about this (most QC apps are based on skeleton code posted on the 'net).

we also need to hash out licensing stuff. not a big deal, but no one's contacted us about that either.

if you're interested in this, please email smokris and myself, and we can work out details.

This would be great for a higher end paid version of the QC App that's received so much attention. Have like several tiers, a free one where this isn't possible, another one that features Kineme branding with slightly more advanced features and then this one that allows for plugin bundling for a more professional user.

Re: Commercial KnM Plugs / Runtime version

wrong model: the app has nothing to do with how plugins work (it simply copies them -- that's all. Nothing else.)

Each Plugin has to be modified to work in these special environments (tying it to a specific app). This is a per-plugin thing, and can't be automated by the app mentioned above.

Somewhat of an aside, having multiple editions of a product can get confusing rather quickly -- 2 levels is ok (basic and pro), but more than that is crazy ("Would you like Windows Vista Starter, Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, or Windows Vista Ultimate?" - and that's not including 32/64bit editions...)

I was thinking of conjunction with it, not necessarily that the app would dictate the function. Yeah you're right, it does seem pretty Vista-ish. Ew.
