Directional Spring and Mouse Over?

Hello,

Newbie here. I just started to learn Quartz Composer and find it fascinating, most of the time when I don't want to pull my hair out. I'm following Dave O'Brien's FB tutorial on YouTube and I'm stuck with the directional spring patch. It does not spring at all. I can drag it and it just stays there. When I download and open his finished product, it does spring. I've compared every setting and they are all the same. I'm not quite sure why that is. Any suggestions or advice?

Also, from another video tutorial I've found online, the interaction patch has a mouse over output port, but mine doesn't. Is that a patch I download?

I'm using Quartz Composer 4.0 on Snow Leopard.
