New Project/Particle System/Sphere starting a new project and would like some advice. just came in my head and this going to sound crazy but here I go. I would like to make a particle system that shoots see through star spheres up with gravity. i found a clear sphere with stars but i can not use because it is hooked up to billboard. i would like for it to be able to move in a 3D area. i have two star png files. totally lost on clear sphere with star.png. when it comes to the particle system, do not understand controls and how to rotate 90 degrees up from the original start position. I would like to thank everyone for there help. i have learned a lot and have told may people about this site. thank you again.

Two quick questions.
Are you running 10.5 or 10.6?
Do you have Kineme 3D installed?
Snow Leopard 10.6, i have installed all the free plugins from here. planning on purchasing other this week

OK, 10.6, GL Tools, Particle Tools, Mesh Renderer & eventually Kineme 3D are your options, along with the stock Particle System patch.
One of the best exploitations of the stock Particle System patch I've ever found on the web is that by PCheese, an audio reactive screensaver called Soundstream.
Makes a very good job of turning what is essentially a 2D plane into a 3D effect
ok i have all the tools needed. i will play around with it.
Soundstream is pretty wild, but not what i wanted. let me try to explain differently. say i have a blank composition. i but a particle system in the composition. i would like to just rotate the particle up 90% degrees up so if i put in a GL Camera patch and rotate around the particle system, it looks like a fountain. would like to be able to anchor anywhere in a 3D field.
the end project = i am work on a video mapping project. i will be project images off a fountain that was made in the mid-1800's. the fountain is up against a wall. would like to project different types of illusions coming out of the fountain spouts. cubes, spheres, cylinders, etc.
maybe this should help understanding what my ultimate goal.

ok here is what i have come up with, but it is attached to a billboard. when i take the billboard away it breaks down. been messing around on sphere for about 4 days with little luck so far.
I would like to learn how to make this type of sphere, without the billboard.
if the stars are not there then use one i uploaded. this is just to see what i am working on. I would like this hooked to particle system shooting up.
i will record the final project place link to video. also everyone that has helped me here will get there names in the credits. must give credit, where credit is due.
