Re: PIC/BALL DROP/GLASS BREAK

In this vid. some parts are composited directly in after effects, on a footage. It is more conceptual than a proper mapping.

anyway.

Glass break, you would do it with KnM 3D, explode patch.

Ball drop, either bounce manually with built-in patches ( check if position of ball is underneath the floor, if YES, invert velocity) or try 1024_BOX2d (ooops, I haven't published the new version with balls. Will do soon).

Hope this helps.

Re: PIC/BALL DROP/GLASS BREAK

i was going to say some of that stuff had to be composited. you could use some of my physics patches for this if you have machine capable of running open cl. honestly i have never done a projection map but franz is the man in respects to this. i tried one day video mapping a sculpture but found it was easier to build a model instead of wrapping and warping video. which seems to be how the video was made, using maya and after effects or something like that. so one he either used footage of the building and composited it or he made a model of the building and projected a composited movie of it onto the building. either way it was nicely done, maybe taken to far.

i mean yeah maya has a shatter filter for the glass and rigid bodies etc.. so it wouldn't be that difficult supposing you know maya... to pull this type of render off. time consuming probably yes, what animation besides qc isn't.

i don't know what to say it all depends on your school of thought i guess. i mean projection mapping seems to be about real-time either interactions or performance projections from what i have seen which is only franz, memo, and matias's work which was all real time so i cant say if pre-rendering a composite is cheating or not. either way if i saw that outside on real building i would be impressed.

i do have a explosion effect like the k3d explosions. it doesn't really shatter a model it shatters my video image. i will post it. its using the my euler physics systems which i made originally for a model so you could try that as well.

using footage for video mapping is not cheating, definetly.

I am learning Blender 2.5 right now. I will try in there. if any of you have not tried BLENDER 2.5 yet, you should. it is like Maya, but not as expansive. Yet the KILER thing about the app is that it is FREE!!!!
