Folder Movies Patch, v0.3

This update to the Folder Movies Patch includes multiple improvements and fixes:

  • Now re-scans when input path changes, when patch is disabled/re-enabled, and on Start-up
  • Composition-relative addressing
  • Metadata file matching — way better than just using extensions
  • Option to find Quartz Composer Compositions, to feed to our Image With Composition Patch

usage

If you're on Leopard, just use the Directory Scanner patch -- it does essentially the same thing. If you're on Tiger, please consider upgrading.

To use this patch, simply provide an input path to search, and use Structure Member at Index to extract useful data from the structure.

directory scanner -> Structure Index Member (selects which picture) -> Structure Index Member (selects URL/path/absolute path.. use absolute path or url) -> image downloader -> billboard.

wrong index

your second "Structure Index Member" patch has an index of 5 -- there are only 2 items in the structure, so valid addresses would be 0, or 1. Using 1 makes it work.

The first structure member selects which picture, the second shouldn't be changed (directory scanner gives you a structure of structures, it's a bit weird until you're used to it).

Installation Instructions

Place the plugin file in
/Users/[you]/Library/Graphics/Quartz Composer Patches/
(Create the folder if it doesn't already exist.)
