first stemps with kinect - help needed

clockworkpictures's picture

I'm trying to make my first steps with kinect: I have downloaded kinect tools but that seems not showing up in the plugins library (in fact also the provided sample composition does not work): what am I doing wrong? I tried to install it in both system and user library folder (not at the same time, of curse) but always with the same result.

I also get some issues with sample compositions found here that tell me that I miss some plugins (even if those are present in my plugins library)

any help for a newbie?

thanks!!! ^_^

Re: first stemps with kinect - help needed

some info on what system your running etc.. would help.

in lion plugins go in your root library. /HD/Library/Graphics/Patches

please note that is only for kineme plugins. kineme plugins use an un official private plugin api. so plugins made un officially go in the patches folder. there isn't many other people making private plugins so as a rule of thumb kineme plugs go in your patches folder and all others go in plugins folder. if you don't have a patches folder you need to make it.

so i would clean out all your plugins from both home (user) and root(HD) then start over. if you have multiple copies of plugs things get wonky as well.

consult kineme's tutorial vid for a better explanation...

oh, great, that's the problem then: actually I have the plugins in the plugins folder rather than patches one! do you know if also 1024 plugins have the same issue?

1024 plugs go into your plugins folder as franz uses the official plugin api.
