Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

If you have any questions about our policy or your data, please contact us.

Kineme is created and managed by employees of Kosada, Inc.

We process your data to provide services to you. You have either paid for services (contracted with us), or consented for us to provide services to you, such as signing up for e-mail newsletter updates. We don't sell, rent, share, or trade any of your information with any other company.

Types of data we collect and process

  • Web requests

    • When your web browser makes a request to our servers, our servers record the IP address and the name and version of the browser you were using at the time, which enables us to diagnose problems and monitor usage
  • Our contact form

    • We collect your email address and name along with your message. The data is used only for responding to your inquiry.
  • Your order

    • We collect your name, username, e-mail address, and payment information:
      • for payment processing — payment data is handled through Authorize.net or PayPal and is not held by Kosada
      • to fulfill your order
      • to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information regarding your order
  • Your public profile and user account

    • When you make a purchase, we'll create a user account on kineme.net. If you haven't bought a Kineme product, you also have the option to create a user account.
    • Usernames and profile pages are publicly visible.
    • With a user account, you can contribute to the Kineme community by participating in discussions, sharing compositions and nodes, requesting or voting on future features, and informing us of possible bugs.
    • Your profile page contains several fields where you have the option to share information about yourself with the community and the general public.
    • Your profile page also contains 2 fields for private demographic information: "Postal Code" and "Gender". This information is not shared with the community or general public; we use it internally to get an overall picture of the user base.
    • We use your profile information to:
      • send you notifications about new comments from other users on the kineme.net discussions you've participated in or subscribed to — you can unsubscribe from these notifications at any time by changing settings on your user account's "Notification settings" tab
      • make a tailored website available to you, including showing you:
        • your order history
        • your current Kineme licenses
      • respond to requests you send privately to us
    • We do not perform targeted advertising.
  • Cookies

    • Cookies are unique identifiers that help kineme.net identify you. A small cookie is stored in your web browser and allows us to recognize you and make your next visit easier.
    • We use cookies to:
      • identify you when you are logged in
      • identify visitors when they are not logged in — for example, to keep track of items in each visitor's shopping cart
    • You can change your cookie behavior in your browser settings.

Data retention

We will not retain your data for longer than necessary to provide the services we have mentioned above. Different retention periods apply for different types of data — for example, we need to retain billing records in the long term in order to comply with financial and audit regulations.

Data access and correction

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. However:

  • Since we need your order information for our financial records, we may not be able to completely delete your order history. If you withdraw consent for order processing or request that we delete your order information, we may not be able to provide subsequent help with that order.
  • Information you have published on our website may have been commented on or voted on by others. As such, we may have to keep some content on the website, while removing your identification with such content.
  • When you request that we delete your data, we will remove it from the live website. Since we retain multiple historic backups of the website, your data may remain in our historic backups after it is removed from the live website. We will ensure that data you've requested to be deleted will not be restored to the live website.

Please submit your requests by contacting us.

If you're located in the European Union, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in the Member State of your habitual residence.
