Hello

I'm starting weekly short tutorials from Quartz (and some other programing stuff), first one is the basics of basics but next one will hopefully be more advanced. So if anyone is interested, or knows someone that wants to get into Quartz, please give them a go.

The channel of the tutorials can be found here:

contrast image extrusion

fiebigc's picture

hey, i'm new to qc and kineme - and well i just want to get something to work like every stupid newbie :)

so my question is: is it possible to extrude black areas of a high contrast image to an 3d object - which also could be manipulated by a noise patch?!

I'm looking for it for quite a while but maybe it's really simple and I just can't see the forest for the trees?!

I really would appreciate any hint or help!

Fireflies - How Would I Make this in Kineme?

Hi there,

I am pretty new to QC and Kineme. It's overwhleming to find a starting point. So I figured I'd try to recreate something I made in Flash/PV3D.

How would I make something like this in QC?

(It's basically a set of point rotating with a firefly attached to each. The 3d coords are converted to 2d coords, where the fireflies are attached to the converted coords. A function randomizes the targets and picks one to enlarge/shrink, then repeats.)

beginner question! creating video delays!!!!!! help please!

Hey everyone! I would really appreciate any help!!!

I'm new to Quartz Composer and need to make a composition that I believe is quite simple- but I don't really know what I'm doing. I am trying to take realtime video from an external USB webcam (or my iSight, if that is easier) and put it on a delay of as long as possible. I think I read somewhere that 20 seconds will be about the maximum because it takes a lot of computing power or something. So really, all i need is to display the video input on a slight delay. if someone could take a screencapture or something of how to set this up that would be amazing.

I am running on a dual core MacBook Pro OS X 10.5.8

Oh.... and I have to figure this out by tomorrow morning.... :/ THANKS!
